My Top 3 ADHD-Friendly Gadgets 2024

Living with ADHD can be challenging, especially when managing the many comorbidities that often accompany it. ADHD isn't just about struggling to sit still or being hyperactive; it also involves dealing with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, an inability to stay focused, fidgeting, sensory overload, and the constant battle to stay organized and clutter-free. If you're not careful, things can quickly spiral out of control!

As awareness of neurodivergent needs grows, so does the range of products designed to make our lives just a little bit easier. And who doesn't want that? Over the past year, I've invested in some game-changing products that have transformed not only the way I work but also how I manage my day-to-day life, helping me feel more in control and less overwhelmed.

So, without further ado, let's dive into my top three ADHD-friendly products that I absolutely love!

1. The ADHD-Friendly Desk: Purus Life Smart Desk

One of the biggest challenges I faced before getting a handle on my ADHD was sitting at my desk long enough to get work done. Being self-employed and working from home means there are countless distractions trying to pull me away from my desk. I used to attempt working at the dining room table—what a disaster!

That all changed when I decided to transform my unused smallest bedroom into an office. My kids are grown up now and only visit occasionally, so the cabin bed was replaced with a top quality comfortable Z-bed that can be stored away when not in use. (Don’t worry, I don’t make anyone sleep on the sofa!)

After extensive research, I found the perfect desk for my needs: the height-adjustable  Purus Life Smart Desk. It's sleek, modern, and incredibly ADHD-friendly.

Key Features:

  • Wipeable Glass Top: If you're anything like me, you probably spend a lot of time writing lists and making notes. With 17 notebooks (and counting), it's hard to keep track of where I've scribbled what. This desk's wipeable glass top allows me to jot down notes directly on it and erase them once tasks are completed, giving me a tiny but satisfying hit of dopamine.

  • Wireless Charging: I can charge my iPhone just by placing it on the desk, eliminating the need for annoying charging cables. The desk also has USB and USB-C charging ports for my MacBook.

  • Height Adjustable: When I start to feel fidgety, I can easily raise the desk to stand and work, helping me stay productive for longer periods.

  • Clutter-Free: The desk has a spacious drawer to keep cables and other items organized, making it easier to maintain a clutter-free workspace.

I genuinely love my new desk!

ADHD can be tough, but having tools like this makes life so much easier.

2. Noise Cancelling Headphones: Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

If there's one thing I struggle with, it's background noise and sensory overload. Whether I'm in a busy office, an airport departure lounge, or a crowded supermarket, the noise can be overwhelming. That's why noise-cancelling headphones are a must-have for anyone with ADHD. They not only help combat sensory overload but also improve focus and concentration.

After thorough research, I chose the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds and they have exceeded my expectations!

Key Features:

  • Superb Noise Cancellation: These earbuds are so effective that I wouldn't hear a jumbo jet taking off nearby.

  • Easy Charging & Long Battery Life: They're easy to charge, and the battery lasts for weeks.

  • User-Friendly Controls: I can answer phone calls and adjust the volume with just a swipe of one finger, making super easy to use.

  • Perfect for Relaxation: I love listening to calming playlists on Spotify, especially Handpan music and 528 Hertz frequencies when I'm feeling anxious or need to relax. These earbuds are perfect for that.

3. The SAD Lamp: Lumie

Research shows that people with ADHD are more likely to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), especially during the shorter days of winter. Lack of sunlight can lead to low mood, low energy, and the dreaded winter blues. As someone who struggles massively with this, I can't recommend a SAD lamp enough!

Is it just me or did last winter seem to go on FOREVER?!

Beat the Winter Blues

At the beginning of the year, I added the the Lumie SAD Lamp to my desk setup, and it's been a game-changer.

Key Features:

  • Simulated Sunlight: The lamp produces light that mimics natural sunlight, improving mood, boosting energy, and enhancing focus.

  • Trusted Brand: Lumie has been in the business of light therapy lamps for years, and their expertise shows in the quality of their products.

I'm planning to purchase another one for my living room this Autumn because it has made such a difference. I might even get one of their sunrise alarm clocks for the bedroom too! (or is that too much ADHD shopping??)

Final Thoughts

Investing in high-quality ADHD-friendly products can soon add up, but the benefits far outweigh the costs. These products have genuinely improved my ADHD life and overall well being, and help me stay focused, organised, and much less overwhelmed.

Thank you for reading! I hope you find these ADHD friendly gadgets as helpful as I have.

Love, Sarah x
